Our tour to Turkey started in Istanbul where we stayed in a nice hotel in the downtown area near Taksim square. The hotel was comfortable and had a good breakfast buffet. The check in process was quick and the staff was friendly which made our stay enjoyable. Although we have been to Aswan, south of Egypt before, this tour was different. We were accommodated in an Eco lodge on a private island in the Nile. The rooms were built from bricks and mud. The lodge had a nice restaurant where we enjoyed our breakfasts and lunches with a breathtaking view of the Nile and Philae temple. The lodge did not have an air condition, just a ceiling fan which was acceptable as it was not very hot at the time. The tour was filled with fun adventures such as kayaking around the island that had Philae temple, a one-day tour to Abu Simbel temple and sailing in the Nile. They took us to one of the hidden gems in the area which is the Kalabsha Temple on an island in Lake Nasser. At night they surprised us with an unplanned activity to see the sound and light show at Philae temple. It was quite an experience. We liked that everything was meticulously organized, our transfers, our daily excursions, and our activities, allowing us to enjoy the trip. We had a lot fun experiencing the culture of Nubia when we visited the Nubian village in Aswan. One down side to the whole trip was that we had no water for a few hours in our accommodation one day but this was a city wide problem due to maintenance issue in the city water supply.
